I bought Counting Crows August and Everything After a few years after it came out, in 1997 or 1998. It's an album I listen to when I'm in a quiet mood... it carries me along... or is that away? I've heard it called the Hotel California of the '90s - I think this is a good description: easy to listen to, interesting lyrics and a bit of an edge to the music. It also seems to have that `ramble-tamble' that Creedence Clearwater Revival had in a lot of their music.
This is a great album. I've heard some of their other stuff, but none of it inspires my to buy another album. Actually, given the quality and originality of August and Everything After, I find it disappointing that their biggest recent hit (Big Yellow Taxi) was a cover.
